How it works
PlexPlus® utilizes pairs of probes that produce signals at different temperatures during the PCR reaction. Within each fluorescent channel, two probes can be used to create fluorescence when they bind — one probe specifically binds and produces a signal at a lower temperature indicating the presence of the first target, while a second probe is designed to produce a signal at a higher temperature, thus indicating the presence of a second target.
This elegant solution bypasses the traditional limitation of needing a separate fluorescent channel for each target. The result: laboratories can multiplex twice as many targets using their existing qPCR platforms without purchasing new equipment or changing workflows. Furthermore, even more than double the targets can be achieved if multiple targets[1] are reported together as a single readout.
